BJP promises ban on forced religious conversion in Chhattisgarh, Rajnath Singh assures elimination of left-wing extremism if voted to power

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, addressing a rally in Sitapur, Chhattisgarh, asserted that if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secures victory in the upcoming Assembly elections, forced religious conversion will be banned in the state. He expressed concern over the alleged widespread religious conversions occurring in Chhattisgarh and criticized the ruling Congress government for the deteriorating law and order situation. Rajnath Singh pledged to address challenges such as rising offenses, human trafficking, and drug trade, emphasizing the need to uproot the Congress from the state.

In addition to the promise on religious conversion, the defence minister assured that if the BJP forms the government, Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) would be eliminated from Chhattisgarh within the next three to four years. Singh claimed that during the BJP's previous rule from 2003-2018, LWE was significantly controlled. He highlighted the rapid rise of extremism under the Congress rule and criticized the current government for alleged scams, asserting that they have not undertaken significant development projects.
